An artist is never on vacation (in the sense that they don't "disconnect" from their work). Inspiration is easier to find because there's a state of wonder in the face of the new.
The same goes for a Christian. On vacation, the inner work continues, even becoming more visible. Senses sharpen, the shriveled heart absorbs water and rehydrates. You shake off all those tasks and mechanisms you do automatically, which consume you and make you view the world through the dusty lenses of routine.
On holiday, you observe yourself as a HUMAN in relation to other PEOPLE.
You are more attentive to your body, your posture, but also to your conscience.
The same consciousness accompanies you, the same struggle (you are not spared from the storm on the sea of thoughts), but the attitude is different.
Because you know you are a guest, that you don't put down roots there, you somehow don't take everything so seriously anymore. Things that bothered you about others no longer bother you, you overlook your own shortcomings and those of your family.
You discover that you largely perform the same actions you did at home, but with a different tone, a different disposition, a different heart.
A drop of inspiration can color an entire life.
