Gheorghe wakes up this morning with a funny story in mind. At his three years of age, he always brings something with him from his overnight dreams, and especially, he smiles at me. It's a special, slightly rehearsed smile that brightens, truly brings sunshine to the sky of my heart, no matter how cloudy it might be outside.
Today he woke up genuinely laughing, barely pulling his eyelids open, but mumbling with determination:“What if we had a hen that makes like... uuuuuuu... like a wolf...?”. And he was so engrossed in his wolf-hen that I saw it too, amused. A hen that makes like a wolf: “Uuuuuuu...” ‒ and he stretched his sweet, rosy little lips as best he could.
Then I understood how precious these simple joys are, these small, natural, warm, and sincerely human delights. They have their purpose; they warm the hearth of a person's heart. They make you feel light and safe, somehow. To be a normal person, a simple human... in your small room at home.
I am used to living life to the fullest, in the sense of its inner experience, to take everything seriously and to seek the most profoundly spiritual meanings from any random event, to see the Lord, to immerse myself in Him through all sorts of contexts and people. But I don't know why this morning I felt how good it is sometimes to simply be a natural person, to rejoice among your loved ones and to thank the Lord for a moment of ordinary respite.
He is so close to us, so close, that He smiles at us even from the most mundane corners of life. Thank You, Lord!
