It's 6 AM... I'm walking on the seashore and I can't help but think how wonderfully the Lord made everything... So much beauty! So much peace! Why don't we manage to engrave them deep in our hearts, to remain eternally within us? A lifetime, an entire life we fight to obtain something that perhaps wasn't even meant for us. That "something" we considered to be the absolute... We lose time, we lose life itself ‒ and, with it, many and varied opportunities to truly rejoice! We stubbornly knock on a door that we consider the essence and fulfillment of our lives, neglecting so many small and worn doors, behind which true happiness hides.
What is happiness? For me, it is feeling in my heart that peace that comes from its depths. That which clothes you "as with a garment," which springs forth like a light, and you know it doesn't come from your own effort. You cannot master it... you cannot keep it... unless it desires to stay. And, if I've understood this, why do we lose our hearts on the threshold of a stranger's door?
Lord, stay with me... and, please, let me stay close to You!
